2000 Ford F-450 Diesel Super Hauler - Rare Centurion Conversion

Intro

Have you been looking for a great deal on a new work truck or play truck, but new truck prices are through the roof? Plus you really want a true HD truck like a FORD F-450, and a Western Hauler type body is what you need to be hauling that new 5th-wheel RV to Florida every winter! But good, solid, affordable F-450's are not that plentiful, and one with an aluminum hauler body is even harder to find, so you're ready to settle for an F-450 in your budget, right?

Well, look no further, this 2000 Ford F-450 with the top class Centurion Super Hauler Conversion Package, is a super solid rig at a super deal. If you're not familiar with the difference between the stock Ford truck series, and the F-450 (and up series), please read further.

Ford makes America's favorite trucks - the F-Series. Most of us have had an F-150, F-250, or F-350 at one time or another. Sure, they are great trucks, and can work hard, but if you need to do some serious towing or hauling, then you owe it to yourself to check out the F-450/F-550 Super-Duty trucks.

Whether you are going to pull a horse trailer with show horses, tow a show car or racing trailer, pull a car hauler, tow a big boat, or pull a 30'-40' 5th wheel RV or a big ATV toy hauler - once you've experienced pulling with an F-450 plus a 1st class hauler conversion on top of the Super-Duty platform, you will realize how much of a safety risk it is to you, your family, your prized animals, and your valuable vehicles and rigs - to tow at highway speeds with any less of a truck!

New and Used Ford F-450 Values

You're the judge if the selling price listed below represents a great value and a fair price or not. But we have done some research and looked around at what new and used FORD F-450's go for, and also at what used FORD HAULERS are selling at. It was pretty interesting what we found.

New 2012 F-450's are listed at dealers for $59,000, $64,000, and up to $75,000 for a 2012 King Ranch version loaded.

And at $75,000 you still don't get a complete "SUPER HAULER", that's ready to work, plus it's not a Centurion or similar high-quality conversion. And it doesn't even have 19.5" wheels & tires, it comes with only 17" ones. And it's not the legendary 7.3 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel, that many say is the best diesel for light & medium trucks ever made. With the highest reliability in rugged conditions, and a very conservative engine life rating of 350,000 miles which can typically go far more, this diesel is in high demand in the used truck market.

Sure a 2012 Ford 450 is a nice truck, but it's still just a stock factory model, fitted out for a suburban country club life. To duplicate this F-450 SUPER HAULER, you would have to add at least $25,000 for a true Western Super Hauler conversion package, to get close to the same type truck as listed for sale here.

And don't forget about high monthly payments and all that means! Why lose 20% (a used 2012 was going for $59,031) or your down payment the minute you leave the Ford dealership? And who wants to get saddled with $1000-$1600 per month payments for the next 5, 6, 7, years?

IT'S YOUR MONEY, BUT...

So you can put 20% or $15,000 down on a new $75,000 truck, and LOSE $15,000 driving it off the floor, PLUS still have those huge payments for years to come - or you can take that down payment and buy this Ford F-450 Super Hauler outright, and have NO payments, plus save $15,000-$20,000 in interest, and roll with a very sensible, reliable, and tough work truck, that still looks great!

THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

List of F-450 Trucks and other Super Haulers Prices to Compare

#1-15 LIST: PENDING - UPON REQUEST

A summary of the price list we put together was that it covered 15-25 trucks, some pic-ups, some straight-beds, some hauler-types, many F-450's, but as hauler-type used trucks are hard to find at affordable prices, we did include F-450's, F-350's, and even a few F-250's.

Again the top of the list were the 2012 F-450's ranging from $55,000 to $75,000 for factory pick-ups. 2009-2011 F-450's were ranging from $40,000-$50,000. 2004-2008 F-450's were ranging from $30,000-$40,000.

A 2006 F-450 Western Hauler was at $30,000. We found several lesser F-350/F-250 Centurion Haulers(no F-450's) as follows:
From the above it can be seen what an exceptional deal this truck is!

Value of the Conversion Package

From the above truck list, it can be seen that a Centurion or Western Hauler type Ford truck has a higher value than a similar truck with a straight-bed or pick-up package. Most of the F-250 & F-350 older conversions are selling for more than this F-450 is listed at below!

Due to the value of the Centurion Conversion, a new true Western Hauler type all aluminum/steel body and conversion start at about $15,000, and easily run $20,000-$25,000 with freight and installation.

Even used hauler type aluminum beds and bodies that are 10 years or so old, are selling at $5500-7500 without freight and installation.

So anyway you look at it, this Ford F-450 SUPER HAULER really has a SUPER VALUE, and is a SUPER DEAL!

No matter which way you're looking at it, this is a SUPER SALE!

You could look at you're getting a low mileage F-450 for $7500 (at least $5000 under book), plus a top class all aluminum/steel hauler body for $7500 (at least 1/2 the cost of new) with free freight and installation, plus extras -OR- you're getting a $15,000 super hauler conversion package with free freight and installation, plus extras -PLUS- a free Ford F-450 worth at least $12,500! Or you could figure you're saving at least $50,000 off the cost of a new one, and getting the same performance, PLUS the conversion again is free!

TAKE YOUR PICK AND THINK ABOUT IT IN THE WAY THAT MAKES THE MOST SENSE TO YOU, BUT HURRY FAST, OR THIS TRUCK WILL BE GONE AND DOWN THE ROAD!

Vehicle History

This is a Texas truck, so the body and frame are essentially rust-free, plus the hauler bed and body is all aluminum/steel. We are the 3rd owner, if memory serves correctly, and the truck was used mostly to transport hay in the Tyler, Texas area.

This truck was purchased 2 years ago, when we learned that it would be much better to use an F-450 to pull a 36' triple-axle trailer for a mobile showroom, than the F-350 we had already purchased.

However, the plans have changed, and the trailer plan was closed, so the truck has never towed anything, and has only been used for occasional local driving in SW. MO. in the last 2 years.

Service and Repair Details

We had a certified Ford diesel mechanic and shop check this truck out before we purchased it, and before we drove it back to SW. MO. we had them do the following work in Texas: Back in Springfield, MO. we had approximately $600 worth of front end re-build work done (per the mechanic in Texas). Work was performed at the best Ford truck front end shop, K Street Alignment, in Springfield.

Also done in Springfield were other service items like replacing the gear oil in the differential with Red Line full synthetic, some battery warranty work at InterState Battery, etc.

Pending Work

Due to being in the process of relocating in the last year or so, we have put the final work we had scheduled to prepare this truck for the mobile showroom tour on hold. These items included:

NOTE: The above pending work is included at no charge in the selling price of $14,900. Or the buyer may decide to save several thousand dollars and put their own new tires on and do other things as they see fit - and buy this truck now for only $12,400!!! [w/o tire and work package]

Overall Condition

In the previous 2 sections, we have listed the service and repairs that we did to the truck after buying it, and the things that we would be doing next, should we be keeping and driving this truck. The vehicle has been smoke-free with us, and at least with the previous owner.

Basically it just needs a full set of tires with professional installation, and possibly some battery work. Chrome wheel simulators, clean-up, and detailing are mainly appearance items, but we feel this truck deserves the very best care, to ensure it looks great for years to come.

Other Flaws

The only other "flaws" this vehicle has would be cosmetic in nature.

The hood has paint scratches on it that we were planning to touch up during detailing(refer to photos). The lower rear edge of the bed bumper area has a few small dings, and also along the right bed side rail, but nothing that reduces from the overall appearance of the vehicle when it is all shined up. If we were to keep the truck, we probably would take care of these minor scratch and dent issues, as we like clean vehicles.

On the interior, there are 2 areas on the drivers seat which need repairs(refer to photos). The sear cushion has a small tear, and also the right armrest, both of which can be fixed easily. As the drivers seat is somewhat worn, once the interior is cleaned up, we would probably put a set of custom front seat covers on as well.

The center console needs a latch fixed and the wood conditioned. On the dash, there are several places where the wood veneer overlay is cracked(refer to photos). This is an easy fix as there are veneer trim kits readily available.

The sound system works and sound good, but the rear console TV could be replaced, if that's your thing, as it is a CRT monitor, with a regular VHF/UHF antenna. You may want to upgrade that to a flat screen and DVD player, which there is room for, or twin rear screens in the seat-backs. Up front, you may want to add GPS, hands-free cell, and a CB radio for those long hauls.

As you can see from the above, this truck has a few minor exterior and interior flaws, all of which can be fixed, and some of the other things we have called "flaws", like the electronics, are actually improvements.

Reason For Selling

We looked for over 9 months before we were lucky enough to find this truck, which was needed to properly and safely transport the 36' triple-axle goose-neck trailer we were going to convert into a mobile showroom and office. But due to family considerations out of state, and other business changes, we did not go further with the project, and we have just been keeping the truck on hand, in case our plans were to change again, or if an 5th wheel RV might come our way.
